Ubuntu 9.04 Released

Horray!
Two of the things they’ve been pushing in this release are the new (‘faster’) ex4 file system and quicker boot times. Here is the official technical overview from Ubuntu.
Unfortunately I don’t have the time or the inclination to be a Ubuntu test subject for the first week post-release, although they’re generally pretty good. I think I’ll wait a good few weeks to see if any major issues arise before I take the plunge.

Left 4 Dead – Survival Pack

The L4D survival pack (the free expansion) will have been released by the time you read this!
It adds a new mode called survival which is a shorted version of the game (they say 10 minutes) in which the survivors face wave after wave of zombies. The aim is to survive for as long as possible, with the time survived being the measure of a teams success.
